Online Instructor Openings for 2020-21 School Year (Part-time positions only)

In anticipation of our NEW K-5 Online Program, we are hiring quite a few elementary teachers!

  • Kindergarten Teacher (Mon-Fri, 9:30 AM- 2:00 PM Eastern) (filled)
  • First Grade Teacher (Mon-Fri, 9:30 AM- 2:00 PM Eastern) (filled)
  • Second Grade Teacher (Mon-Fri, 9:30 AM- 2:00 PM Eastern)
  • Third Grade Teacher (Mon-Fri, 9:30 AM- 2:00 PM Eastern)
  • Fourth Grade Teacher (Mon-Fri, 9:30 AM- 2:00 PM Eastern)
  • Fifth Grade Teacher (Mon-Fri, 9:30 AM- 2:00 PM Eastern)

NOTE: Not all of the time listed above is live teaching time. The program is blended, so your time as a teacher will be split between synchronous and asynchronous instruction.

For our 6-12 online program, we are hiring the following:

  • Long-term and short-term subs for math and science
  • Long-term subs for other subjects

An online instructor must be a self-starter, and willing to lead an online course using Kolbe Academy curriculum.  Kolbe will provide the course plan, books, software and training needed to be successful in this role.   

Responsibilities for Teachers Grade 6-12

  • Conduct live classes as scheduled.
  • Check email and Schoology messages on a daily basis, Monday-Friday not including holidays or breaks.
  • Enter into Schoology all assignments with due dates specified as directed by KOLBE or its representative.
  • Give a minimum of one assignment to be graded per week.
  • Give a participation grade for each live class.
  • Return graded assignments within a reasonable time frame.
  • Hold office hours as follows:
    • During the normal class time of semester and mid-semester exam weeks.
    • Prior to any non-semester or mid-semester exams.
    • By request of a student.
  • Complete training in all technology, Kolbe philosophy and policy, and online teaching pedagogy prior to August 18th.
  • Attend faculty in-service meetings as directed.
  • Attend all department meetings as scheduled.

Job Qualifications

  • Classroom teaching experience and/or tutoring homeschool students
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.  
  • Master’s degree in field or teacher certification (any state).  Preferred
  • Previous experience teaching in an online environment. Preferred

Job Requirements

  • Pass Kolbe Academy technology and online learning certification course. 
  • Dedicated work space appropriate for conducting live online classes in a professional manner.  

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience teaching the specific subject in the classroom and/or online 
  • Passion for technology and familiarity with online learning
  • Ability to create engaging synchronous lessons

Responsibilities for Teachers, Grades K-5:

  • Teacher will be hired as the primary teacher for a single grade level (tracking progress in all subject areas)
  • Teacher will adapt Kolbe course plans to fit the online model
  • Teacher will outline the weekly schedule and assignments for his or her class
  • Teacher will post a weekly schedule every Friday for the following week
  • Teacher creates supplemental video instructions for weekly activities
  • Teacher will create formative & summative weekly assessments
  • Teacher will help form reading & math groups based upon assessment and ability.
  • Teacher will conduct live classes with groups of students as scheduled.

Other K-5 responsibilities include:

  • Check email and Schoology messages on a daily basis, Monday-Friday not including holidays or breaks.

  • Hold office hours upon appointment on Friday mornings.
  • Complete training in all technology, Kolbe philosophy and policy, and online teaching pedagogy.
  • Attend faculty in-service meetings as directed.
  • Attend all department meetings as scheduled.
