An online instructor must be a self-starter, and willing to lead an online course using Kolbe Academy curriculum.  Kolbe will provide the course plan, books, software and training needed to be successful in this role.   

Responsibilities for Teachers Grade 6-12

  • Conduct live classes as scheduled.
  • Check email and Schoology messages on a daily basis, Monday-Friday not including holidays or breaks.
  • Enter into Schoology all assignments with due dates specified as directed by KOLBE or its representative.
  • Give a minimum of one assignment to be graded per week.
  • Give a participation grade for each live class.
  • Return graded assignments within a reasonable time frame.
  • Hold office hours as follows:
    • During the normal class time of semester and mid-semester exam weeks.
    • Prior to any non-semester or mid-semester exams.
    • By request of a student.
  • Complete training in all technology, Kolbe philosophy and policy, and online teaching pedagogy prior to August 18th.
  • Attend faculty in-service meetings as directed.
  • Attend all department meetings as scheduled.

Job Qualifications

  • Classroom teaching experience and/or tutoring homeschool students
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.  
  • Master’s degree in field or teacher certification (any state).  Preferred
  • Previous experience teaching in an online environment. Preferred

Job Requirements

  • Pass Kolbe Academy technology and online learning certification course. 
  • Dedicated work space appropriate for conducting live online classes in a professional manner.

Responsibilities for Teachers, Grades K-5:

  • Teacher will be hired as the primary teacher for a single grade level (tracking progress in all subject areas)
  • Teacher will adapt Kolbe course plans to fit the online model
  • Teacher will outline the weekly schedule and assignments for his or her class
  • Teacher will post a weekly schedule every Friday for the following week
  • Teacher creates supplemental video instructions for weekly activities
  • Teacher will create formative & summative weekly assessments
  • Teacher will help form reading & math groups based upon assessment and ability.
  • Teacher will conduct live classes with groups of students as scheduled.

Other K-5 responsibilities include:

  • Processing registrations and preparing instructional materials
  • Assessing quarterly progress of students by reviewing and commenting on work samples
  • Preparing grade records, transcripts and diplomas
  • Grading junior high and high school level work
  • Developing/revising curriculum materials
  • Giving online presentations on Kolbe’s programs
  • Traveling to home-school conferences and speaking to prospective parents regarding Kolbe’s program and curriculum

Job Qualifications

  • Must be a practicing Catholic willing to take an Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium and to make a Profession of Faith.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work consistent weekly schedule covering at least some portion of the hours of 7 AM to 4 PM Pacific time.
  • Some travel may be required
  • Some on-site training at our Napa office is required

Skills

  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and pleasant phone demeanor
  • Must be able to multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Must be comfortable learning new technology
  • More advanced computer skills a definite plus
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish highly desired but not required
  • Very desirable is either experience with home schooling or having been home-schooled, or past experience teaching or tutoring
  • Ability to provide specialized instruction or assist in developing curriculum in a specific subject area is desired

Kolbe Academy seeks Curriculum Developers for the current school year and beyond. This position will function as part of our Curriculum Development team and report to the Curriculum Coordinator and will directly support the maintenance and development of Kolbe Curriculum.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking individuals to assist in facilitating the maintenance and development of Kolbe courses and course materials. As a member of a diverse team, you will need to communicate effectively, be self-directed, and proactive in meeting deadlines. You will be working with the other members of the Curriculum Development team as well as the curriculum coordinator to review, revise, and create Kolbe courses and materials as needed.  We are looking for individuals who are adaptable and can remain flexible and eager for work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in education, or curriculum development with preferred experience in Classical Education Environments, or Liberal Arts style Schools
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience preferred.
  • Experience working with OFFICE products to create and format documents and tables
  • Available for up to 25 hours weekly for project-based work.
  • Preferred experience in developing and delivering homeschool content.
  • Experience with developing and implementing classical education
  • Specialties by grade level in the areas of any of the following: Humanities, Language Arts, Math, and Science.

Job Requirements

  • Part time work with fluctuating hours based on project scope.
  • Position does not require relocation.
  • Ability to attend a paid 2 week live virtual training (up to 3-4 hours per day for 8 days). Training to include formatting, copy editing, proofreading, and Development.
  • Access to your own equipment capable of basic office functions.

Salary and Benefits

Copy Editor/Proofreader

Kolbe Academy seeks  Copy Editor/Proofreaders for the current school year and beyond. This position will report to the Curriculum Coordinator and will directly support the maintenance and development of Kolbe Curriculum.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking detail-oriented individuals to assist in proofreading as well as making edits and formatting corrections to various Kolbe Academy course materials. As a member of a diverse team you will need to communicate effectively, and be self-directed and proactive in meeting deadlines for publishing. You will be working with the developer of the course as well as the curriculum coordinator to create/edit/format/proofread Kolbe publications as needed.  Looking for individuals who are capable of learning new systems and can remain flexible and eager for work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree Preferred and relevant work experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard editorial concepts practices and procedures
  • Background in education, curriculum development
  • Experience working with OFFICE products to create and format documents and tables
  • Adobe IN-Design Experience Preferred
  • Experience editing in WORD and other office products.
  • Available for up to 25 hours weekly for project based work.

EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

Kolbe Academy seeks an Educational Technology Manager for the 2020-2021 school year and beyond.

Educational Technology Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will directly support all technology systems and infrastructure for Kolbe Academy.

 

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience managing others in a professional environment, managing project implementation and multiple systems. Kolbe Academy is looking for a candidate that can remain focused on customer experience while developing systems that accelerate Kolbe’s technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate can learn new systems quickly, research opportunities, and present multiple options for solutions that fit the model of Kolbe Academy.  Our students success is our ultimate priority and the systems put in place will be designed towards furthering that mission.

  • Passion for educational technology and Catholic Education.
  • Experience working remotely and managing a remote team.
  • Experience in support and training of staff/faculty in the use of technology.
  • History of reporting management, developing and implementing data systems
  • Experience in managing multiple concurrent projects effectively towards deadlines

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree Preferred and relevant work experience preferred.
  • Management level experience in managing staff, hiring for related positions and managing project related expenses.
  • Leadership experience in network/computer system management, hardware and software selection and deployment, system troubleshooting, and system maintenance.
  • Preferred experience/knowledge of computer operating systems used in schools, standard educational software packages and student information systems.

  • Travel to Kolbe headquarters as needed, as well as travel for work related projects
  • Work outside of regular school hours may be necessary at times during implementations, yearly roll-overs, and start of school.

FULFILLMENT MANAGER

Kolbe Academy seeks a Fulfillment Manager for the daily operations of the Kolbe Academy Bookstore and Fulfillment operations presently operating at 1600 F St in Napa CA. The Fulfillment Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will directly support all fulfillment services for Kolbe Academy.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience managing others in a professional environment, managing inventory, shipping and receiving and maintaining warehouse management. Kolbe Academy is looking for a candidate that can remain focused on customer experience while developing systems that accelerate Kolbe’s technology infrastructure towards delivering and fulfilling in the most cost effective methods for both Kolbe and our families.  The ideal candidate can learn new systems quickly, research opportunities, and present multiple options for solutions that fit the model of Kolbe Academy.  Our students success is our ultimate priority and the systems put in place will be designed towards furthering that mission.

  • Experience working in a shipping/receiving, warehouse fulfillment capacity.
  • Experience in purchasing and maintaining inventory, receivables and ensuring accurate data and pricing around all products.
  • Communicates effectively with other departments regarding the deployment and launch of products and services in fulfillment.
  • Experience in managing multiple concurrent projects effectively towards deadlines
  • History of managing others in a mixed local and remote staff environment. Including hiring for and managing daily operations of staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree preferred but not necessary. Relevant work experience preferred. Minimum HS Diploma.
  • Leadership experience, project management and systems implementations a plus.

 

Job Requirements

  • Local Applicants preferred.
  • Able to lift 50lb effectively. Able to remain standing or moving for 6-8 hours per day as needed.
