History 7 - Kolbe Academy

History 7

Seventh Grade History covers world history from the beginning of recorded history to the present. If your student is in high school, please see the course description for Western Civilization Iwhich uses the same text in a high school level course.

The course covers world history from the beginning of recorded history to the inception of the French Revolution.  Beginning with the coming of Jesus Christ, and highlighting the achievements of medieval Christendom, this text focuses on the effects of the Christian faith on human civilization.  Seventh Grade History uses Light to the Nations: Part One: The History of Christian Civilization.  Eighth Grade History follows with the second volume, Light to the Nations: Part Two: The Making of the Modern World.

This introductory history course begins with the creation of the world and covers the concept of prehistory.  The study’s focus begins with Incarnation, and traces the development of Christendom from the founding of the Roman Catholic Church to the inception of the French Revolution.  While secular history is emphasized, the relationship between Church and state, as well as the relationship between Catholicism and other religions, is not overlooked.

Students should expect to have daily reading, at least one (or more) weekly written assignments, required participation, and exams as assigned by their instructor. All requirements are assigned and graded by the instructor.
