Second Form Latin

Second Form Latin reviews everything in First Form Latin and builds on the knowledge gained from the First Form in order to introduce the student/s to the complete verb paradigms.

This course is designed to be used by students who have mastered the First Form course. Second Form Latin employs the “grammar-first” approach to language acquisition, and this means that students will need to commit to extensive memorization. However, we will take things slowly so that the Latin grammar becomes embedded in the long-term memory of the student. The grammar stage will typically take three years (First, Second, and Third Forms).

Students taking this course are expected to complete daily assignments, periodic exams and quizzes.

Assignment due-dates and grades are established by the parent.  Optionally, a student may be enrolled in the Self-Paced Plus© grading assistance program to receive grading assistance from a Kolbe Academy faculty or staff member on designated assignments in the course. In this case, parents will still submit final grades to Kolbe for the course, but may choose to incorporate the graded assignments into the student’s overall grade or use the Kolbe-graded assignments to assist in arriving at the student’s final grade.
