Professor Joseph Pearce to be 2018 Commencement Speaker

Kolbe Academy is pleased to announce that the 2018 graduation ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 9th, at 2 PM at the Georgia Tech Catholic Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The graduation will be live-streamed, and graduates will also be able to attend virtually. The graduation will be followed by a reception, and our student organizing committee is considering additional activities for that weekend. Please RSVP for either the live or virtual graduation using our RSVP form. The cost for the live graduation is $100, and includes up to 4 guests. If you are bringing more than 4 guests, an additional $10 per additional guest ages 10 and over will be charged to cover the reception.

We’re pleased to announce that Professor Joseph Pearce has agreed to be our 2018 commencement speaker! Professor Pearce is a long-time support of Catholic home schooling and classical education. He will be joined on stage by faculty speaker Dr. Jordan Almanzar.

We’re currently taking applications to be a student speaker at the graduation ceremony. Students should have a minimum of a 3.5 weighted GPA, and may submit a writing sample and short video of giving a sample talk or presentation to Mr. Buyarski at The video may be submitted as a link to a youtube/vimeo video, or using a download service such as dropbox or google drive. The sample should be no longer than 6-8 minutes, shorter is fine.

Graduates will wear black caps and gowns, which may be ordered here. If you order before May 13th and use the code SD15, you will receive 15% off. If you would like to order separately, please be sure to select “black matte” as the color. Kolbe will provide the tassels.

If you will be attending virtually, please RSVP by May 15th so that we can mail your tassel to you. To receive your diploma at the live graduation, all reporting materials must be received at the Kolbe offices no later Thursday, May 31st. Students may walk without having had the diploma officially issued, and will receive the diploma in the mail afterwards if reporting materials are not received by the 31st.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Buyarski at We’re looking forward to the largest graduation ceremony in Kolbe’s history. Congratulations to the Class of 2018!
