Updating the Time Zone in Schoology

It is important for you, the student, to update your time zone in Schoology, as an incorrect time zone can impact assignment due dates.

Click the drop-down arrow to the top-right of the Schoology page, then select “Account Settings” from the drop-down menu.

 

In the Timezone section, open the drop-down list and select a metropolitan area that has your correct timezone (ask your parent for help if you’re not sure which to choose).

 

Once a time zone is selected, click the orange “Save Changes” button.

Setting Student Email Notifications

Schoology will notify you via email of actions such as upcoming or overdue assignments, course and group updates, and school-wide events and updates.  You should make sure that notifications are set up to Kolbe’s recommendations, as listed in the instructions below.

Navigate to the Notifications page by clicking the arrow to the top-right of the Schoology page, then select “Notifications” from the drop-down menu.

 

If you are on the Account page, you can navigate to the Notifications section by selecting the “Notifications” tab at the top of the page.

 

Below are Kolbe’s recommendations of notifications that should be turned on under the Academic, Group, and School sections.

 

Once settings have been updated, click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page.

 

Setting Course-Specific Email Notifications

In addition to setting email notifications in the Notifications section of Schoology, you can also set notifications specific to a course.  To do this, navigate to the course’s Schoology page.  Click the “Notifications” button, which will open a drop-down menu that will allow you to select which notifications you receive for that course.  Click “Save Changes” once you’ve made your selections.

 

Updating the Student Profile

Student Profile Rules

Kolbe Academy has rules about what may and may not be shared a student’s profile.  You are allowed to share appropriate interests and activities, like favorite books, sports played, and hobbies.

You may NOT share personal information including: date of birth, email address, home address, phone number, last name, or information about other students.

Failure to comply with personal profile rules may result with disciplinary actions. 

You may edit your profile from the by clicking on your name to the top right corner of the Schoology page.

 

This will bring up your personal profile, which includes information such as a bio, interests, activities, and contact info.  The profile content can be updated by clicking the “Edit” button to the top right of the profile’s page.

 

You will be brought to a page where you can edit your bio, interests, and activities. As mentioned in the Rules box above, you are NOT allowed share your contact information.

 

Student Profile Picture

Profile Picture Rules

Profile pictures must be “yearbook style” at all times, meaning an appropriate head-shot of you, of the student.  You are not allowed to post group pictures, images of animals, other people, memes, etc.

Failure to comply with profile picture rules may result with disciplinary actions. 

 

Profile pictures may be updated by hovering over the profile picture, then clicking “Edit.”

 

A picture may be uploaded from a computer, or a generic avatar may be selected.
