For Immediate Release
NAPA, CA–August 9, 2023–Kolbe Academy—a leading provider of Catholic, classical, home-based education—and Franciscan University of Steubenville have formed a new partnership that will give Kolbe students the opportunity to earn college credit through Franciscan University.
With this partnership, Kolbe students enroll concurrently in designated Franciscan University and Kolbe Academy online courses. Students can get a head start on a high-quality, faith-based college education while still in high school, earn college-level credit at a reduced cost, and potentially graduate early.
"We're very excited about the new collaboration with Franciscan University, which deepens our commitment to offering our students an authentic and comprehensive Catholic education all while attending Kolbe Academy courses at home," said Mrs. Megan Lengyel, Chief Academic Officer of Kolbe Academy. "Our aim is to keep our students engaged within the supportive environment of Kolbe's online classrooms, while simultaneously providing them with the opportunity to earn college credits anywhere."
“This partnership is a shining example of how higher education institutions can collaborate with online high schools to enhance student success,” said Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, president of Franciscan University of Steubenville. “By providing students at Kolbe Academy the opportunity to earn college credits through concurrent enrollment, we are empowering them to advance their education, build a strong foundation for their future academic careers, and be educated and formed as joyful disciples of Jesus Christ.”
Kolbe Academy students will have the opportunity to enroll in an expanding list of courses approved by Franciscan University, and earned college credits may also be transferred to other institutions. Both schools will provide support to students throughout their academic journey, ensuring a smooth transition and laying a foundation for their future vocations.
Together, Franciscan University and Kolbe Academy are committed to academic excellence and encourage students to pursue truth, wisdom, and virtue, cultivating an openness to the call to holiness.
