Did you know Kolbe’s Online Academy offers summer camps? Camps are a new online program offering, and are one week sessions!
Here are just a few of the camps being offered this summer:
Faith & Legos: The imaginative world of LEGO and our incredible Faith join forces in this hands-on, creative class! We will explore exciting stories from the Bible and from the lives of the Saints and bring them to life in our own homes using the innovative power of LEGO! (Grades K-5)
Book Clubs: Students will have the opportunity to read books from Kolbe's Recommended Reading List and have a guided discussion by a Kolbe instructor amongst their peers. (Grades K-12)
Lego Stop Motion: Learn how to bring Lego models to life through short stop motion animation. (Grades 4-9)
Baking Class: Cookies and muffins and cakes, oh my! Whether you are new to the kitchen or are a veteran pastry chef, come as you are and join us for some baking fun. (Grades 3-8)
Cooking Class: Come along with us as we cook our way through breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Learn some fun and creative recipes that you can share with the whole family. (Grades 3-9)
Creative Writing: Join us for Creative Writing Camp where you’ll spend time studying and creating different styles of writing with other Kolbe students. (Grades 6-12)
Spanish Camp: Join us at Spanish Camp to celebrate Spanish culture and speak a little Spanish. We’ll try authentic Spanish recipes, listen to Spanish music, discuss Spanish culture and practice speaking with friends. (Grades 6-12)
STEAM Camp: Get creative in this STEAM camp where you use the engineering and design process to tackle three exciting engineering challenges with your peers. You will build three mechanisms of your own design to accomplish three different tasks using approved materials. You will then test your designs, score them, and evaluate each one for improvement. The student(s) earning the highest score(s) in each challenge will be featured in the Kolbe newsletter! We are excited to see what you build! (Grades 6-12)
Introduction to Coding: Learn to code with us this summer! Students will become familiar with basic programming concepts in Javascript, learn about web frameworks, and build a simple web project. (Grades 7-12)
Linguistics Camp: Are you a linguaphile? Do you love language and words? Have you ever wondered why or how English is the way it is? Do you really think English is based on haphazard rules subject to random occurrences and arbitrary preferences? Then this camp is for you! (Grades 8-12)
The Pillars of Philosophical Thinking: Get an introduction to Philosophy this week with topics on Epistemology, then Metaphysics/Ontology, and Logic. (Grades 9=12)
